Farmers Protest at Shri Bankhandeshwar Mahadev Temple in Kanpur Over Outer Ring Road Cut Point

Kanpur – Tensions rose in the Bithoor police station area of Kanpur Nagar as local farmers staged a protest at the historic Shri Bankhandeshwar Mahadev Temple in Itra village, voicing their grievances over the absence of a cut point in the upcoming Outer Ring Road project passing through the area.

The protest, organized by the Kisan Union, saw a significant turnout of regional farmers. Kisan Union National President Pawan Thakur led the demonstration and submitted a formal memorandum to ACP Kalyanpur, demanding the inclusion of the cut point to facilitate local access.

Addressing the gathering, Pawan Thakur emphasized the importance of the cut point for the livelihood and daily commuting needs of the farmers and residents of Itra village. “If the demand for the cut point is not accepted, farmers from across the region will unite and launch a massive protest,” he warned.

The peaceful demonstration drew the attention of local authorities, with police deployment ensuring security and order at the site. The protest reflects the growing concern among agrarian communities about infrastructure projects disrupting local accessibility without adequate planning or consultation.

Officials have assured that the matter will be reviewed and forwarded to the appropriate development authorities for further action.
