Lucknow – The Departmental Lecture Program of the Faculty of Law, Second Campus, Lucknow University, was successfully held, featuring an enlightening session on “The Marriage in Islam” by the distinguished spokesperson, Prof. Kamal Ahmad Khan.
During his lecture, Prof. Khan emphasized the significance of Nikah not only for individuals but for society as a whole. He highlighted that Nikah should be free of lust and guilt, focusing instead on its social and moral purpose. He referred to several jurists who contributed to preserving the value of Nikah and elaborated on its status as a contractual agreement distinct from a sacrament.
Quoting, “We have guided missiles but unguided men,” Prof. Khan also illustrated key Supreme Court and Privy Council cases, explaining how religion shapes life for both this world and the hereafter. He further discussed Articles 25-28 of the Indian Constitution, which guarantee the Right to Religion.

The lecture was graced by Dr. Lalit Kishor Srivastava and Dr. Rupam Lal, adding to the program’s academic significance. The session was highly appreciated for its depth, clarity, and relevance to contemporary legal studies.
