Faculty Learn Robotics and 3D Printing at AKTU’s First Infosys Makers Lab Training Program

Lucknow – Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Technical University (AKTU) has taken a significant step in equipping not only its students but also its faculty with cutting-edge technological skills. For the first time, the university has launched a five-day Faculty Enablement Program (FEP) focused on Robotics, 3D Printing, and the Internet of Things (IoT), in collaboration with Infosys and the Centre for Advanced Studies.

The program was inaugurated on Monday by Vice Chancellor Prof. J.P. Pandey and Dr. G.N. Singh, Advisor to the Hon’ble Chief Minister. The training is being conducted at the Infosys Makers Lab, the first of its kind established in Uttar Pradesh, offering state-of-the-art facilities for innovation and project development.

Infosys Makers Lab: A First for Uttar Pradesh

This marks the first time a structured training program is being held at the newly set-up lab. The five-day session is designed not only for faculty members but also for research scholars, who will gain both theoretical and practical exposure to modern technologies. Experts from Infosys are training participants in robotics, automation, 3D printing, and IoT applications.

During the program, faculty members will not just learn about these emerging technologies but will also build robots themselves with material and equipment provided in the lab. Similarly, hands-on training in 3D printing will enable them to explore real-world applications of additive manufacturing.

Leadership Insights

Speaking at the inauguration, Dr. G.N. Singh emphasized the importance of keeping pace with technological advancements:
“This opportunity will prove highly beneficial for the future. Teachers must remain updated with new technologies so they can prepare students effectively for tomorrow’s challenges.”

Vice Chancellor Prof. J.P. Pandey echoed the sentiment, noting:
“Programs like these are immensely useful in enhancing teaching standards and ensuring that students receive the best exposure to emerging technologies.”

Towards a Future-Ready Faculty

Present at the event were Prof. B.N. Mishra (Dean, Innovation), Dr. Anuj Kumar Sharma (Assoc. Dean, Innovation), Gaurav Rai, Anurag Chaubey, along with several faculty members and research scholars.

The initiative reflects AKTU’s commitment to integrating innovation into its teaching ecosystem, ensuring that both faculty and students are well-prepared for the fast-evolving technological landscape.
