Executive Council Meeting of Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Rohilkhand University Concludes, Key Decisions Approved

Bareilly: The Executive Council meeting of Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Rohilkhand University was successfully held at the Vice-Chancellor’s committee hall under the chairmanship of Vice-Chancellor Prof. K. P. Singh. Several significant decisions aimed at academic growth, administrative reforms, and student welfare were approved during the session.

The meeting began with a formal welcome of newly appointed council members, including Ghanshyam Khandelwal, Prof. Ajit Singh Nain, Prof. Rajni Ranjan Singh, Prof. Anju Agrawal, Prof. Harikesh Singh, Prof. Dushyant Kumar, and Prof. Anupam Mehrotra. The council also expressed deep condolences on the sudden demise of Prof. Shyam Bihari Lal.

The council ratified decisions taken during a special meeting held on November 6, 2025, in connection with the university’s convocation ceremony.

Among the major decisions, the council approved departmental promotions for 10 non-teaching staff members, along with career advancement promotions for two faculty members and an assistant librarian.

In a forward-looking move, the council approved the draft of the ‘Artificial Intelligence Policy 2026’, aiming to position the university as a global center of excellence in AI. The institution already operates the Atal Centre for Artificial Intelligence, which will play a key role in this initiative.

The university also announced the launch of a Centre for Distance and Online Education following its recognition under UGC Category-1 status. Details regarding course fee structures under this initiative were presented before the council.

In a student-friendly decision, the annual fee for M.Tech programs has been reduced from ₹1,00,000 to ₹80,000. Additionally, the council approved a 5% salary hike for teachers of affiliated colleges.

The council was informed about the award of doctoral degrees to 13 research scholars following successful viva voce examinations. It also approved new regulations for thesis submission in line with UGC guidelines.

The meeting was attended by several dignitaries, including nominee of the Chancellor Prof. Ajit Singh Nain, Registrar Harish Chand, Finance Officer Vinod Kumar, and other senior faculty members and officials.

The meeting concluded with a strong focus on innovation, academic excellence, and institutional development.
