Lucknow: A joint team of Para Police Station and Crime Branch engaged in an encounter with armed criminals involved in a recent murder and vehicle robbery case.
Police received information that the accused who murdered Yogesh Pal of Buddheswar on September 29 and looted his four-wheeler (Ertiga) were attempting to sell the stolen vehicle. Acting on the tip-off, police launched a checking operation near Kisan Path underpass close to Agra Expressway.
During the checking, the police intercepted a suspicious four-wheeler. Instead of stopping, the two men inside opened fire on the police team and tried to reverse the vehicle, causing it to crash into a roadside drain.
One accused, who was driving, escaped towards the fields while firing, and is currently being searched for. The second accused, Ajay Singh, son of Ranjit Singh, resident of Pihani, Hardoi, fired two rounds at police but was injured in retaliatory firing. He sustained a bullet injury to his leg and was rushed to Rani Laxmibai Hospital for treatment.
