Election Commission of India to Launch Unified ECI-Net App Integrating 40+ Services for Stakeholders

Lucknow: In a landmark digital initiative aimed at streamlining electoral services, the Election Commission of India (ECI) is set to launch a unified, one-stop application — ECI-Net — for all election stakeholders, including voters, election officials, political parties, and civil society.

The upcoming platform will integrate over 40 existing web and mobile applications, including popular ones such as Voter Helpline, cVIGIL, Suvidha 2.0, ESMSS, Saksham, and Know Your Candidate (KYC). These apps have collectively garnered over 55 million downloads, highlighting their wide usage and public utility.

ECI-Net is designed with an intuitive user interface (UI) and simplified user experience (UX), ensuring seamless access to election-related services and information. It aims to eliminate the need for users to navigate multiple applications or remember separate login credentials by offering a single-window digital solution.

Conceived by Chief Election Commissioner Shri Gyanesh Kumar during the Chief Electoral Officers’ Conference in March 2025 — and supported by Election Commissioners Dr. Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Dr. Vivek Joshi — the platform is already in advanced stages of development.

The app will support real-time access to accurate and authenticated electoral data on desktops and smartphones. Importantly, only authorized election officials will be allowed to input data into the platform, ensuring a high standard of accuracy and accountability. In case of disputes, statutory forms filled and submitted offline will continue to serve as the primary legal record.

ECI-Net is expected to benefit a vast electoral ecosystem, including:

  • 1 billion+ registered voters

  • 10.5 lakh Booth Level Officers (BLOs)

  • 15 lakh Booth Level Agents (BLAs) representing political parties

  • 45 lakh polling personnel

  • 15,597 Assistant Electoral Registration Officers (AEROs)

  • 4,123 Electoral Registration Officers (EROs)

  • 767 District Election Officers (DEOs)

The development of ECI-Net has included extensive consultations with all 36 CEOs of States and Union Territories, 767 DEOs, and 4,123 EROs. Furthermore, the Commission has reviewed over 76 official publications totaling 9,000 pages, including instructions and electoral guidelines.

ECI-Net is being rigorously tested for functionality, ease of use, and robust cybersecurity, ensuring that it adheres strictly to legal frameworks such as the Representation of the People Acts (1950 and 1951), the Registration of Electors Rules (1960), and the Conduct of Elections Rules (1961).

This transformative app is poised to redefine how citizens and election machinery interact, offering a transparent, efficient, and technologically empowered electoral experience.
