Easier commutes ahead for Lucknow Residents

Lucknow– Commuting in Lucknow is set to become significantly smoother as authorities crack down on illegal taxi stands, unauthorized parking, and vehicles causing traffic congestion. A special joint task force, formed under the directives of District Magistrate Vishakh G, has launched a comprehensive campaign to clear city roads and improve traffic flow.

The initiative targets key areas prone to bottlenecks, including illegal taxi stands and vehicles parked haphazardly along roadsides. Commercial vehicles stopping to pick up or drop off passengers at main roads and intersections are also facing strict action.

In a major push to ease traffic woes, the campaign has already resulted in 88 vehicle challans (fines) and the seizure of 41 vehicles. Simultaneously, the Nagar Nigam (Municipal Corporation) team in Zone Six is actively removing encroachments by shops from roads, enlisting police assistance where necessary.

The special joint committee, comprising local Additional City Magistrates/ACPs and Transport Department officials, has been operational since June 3. This collaborative effort is focusing on major city hotspots known for creating traffic jams. Notable locations where special drives have been conducted include areas behind Hotel Clarks Avadh, Ghantaghar Chowk, Madiaon Sitapur Road, Polytechnic, and Arjunganj. The committee is issuing challans for both small and large vehicles, and the Nagar Nigam team is levying fines, coordinating closely with the police on all enforcement actions.

This sustained effort aims to ensure a smoother and more convenient travel experience for all residents of Lucknow.
