Pradhan Mantri Surakshit Matritva Abhiyan plays an important role in identifying high risk pregnancy
Kanpur Nagar – It is necessary to get ultrasound done for pregnant women to get correct information about the condition of the baby in the womb, placenta, gestational age. So that pregnant women can get proper treatment according to the situation. Often people have a misconception that ultrasound waves cause radiation effect on the baby in the womb. Actually it is not so. Ultrasound scanning is done with sound waves, not radio waves. There is no radiation in this and there is no effect on the baby in the womb. This is the statement of Dr. Ramit Rastogi, Nodal Officer (ACMO) of the District Family Welfare Program.
He told that through ultrasound, complications occurring before or during delivery can be reduced to a great extent. At the same time, the possibilities of maternal death can also be eliminated in many cases. It was also told that pregnant women who get prenatal checkup done at government health units are being provided the facility of ultrasound checkup once in the second and third trimester at a total of 21 contracted private ultrasound centers of the district through e-rupee voucher. Pregnant women are taking advantage of this by just showing SMS and QR code at private centers.
Dr. Ruchi Jain, Chief Medical Superintendent of District Women’s Hospital, Dufferin, says that if ultrasound shows any serious physical deficiency in the child, then the right decision can be taken at the right time. If this is not done, the child born remains abnormal throughout life. In some cases, the body parts of the child are not developing. In such a situation, it is not in anyone’s interest to continue that fetus further. Therefore, scanning is very important and it does not have any kind of adverse effect on the mother or the child. Ultrasound shows whether there is one child in the womb or twins are growing. At the same time, ultrasound is done to know the condition of the baby before delivery and to check the ovary and uterus.
District maternal health consultant Harishankar Mishra says that for prenatal checkup, complete examination of pregnant women is done at all health centers on 1st, 9th, 16th and 24th of the month under the Pradhan Mantri Surakshit Matritva Abhiyan. In this sequence, Pradhan Mantri Surakshit Matritva Abhiyan Day was celebrated on Wednesday at all health centers including district hospitals. He told that under the scheme started from April 1, 2023, a total of 2715 e-rupee vouchers have been generated till the month of September.
