Duty bound voters to be suitably honoured in Lucknow city

Lucknow: Representatives of RWAs of multi-storey societies and colonies recently took the oath of voting in the voter awareness campaign organized by Lucknow Development Authority at Indira Gandhi Pratishthan.
Divisional Commissioner Dr. Roshan Jacob, District Election Officer/District Magistrate Suryapal Gangwar, Vice Chairman of the Authority Dr. Indramani Tripathi and Municipal Commissioner Inderjit Singh appealed to the voters to vote in maximum numbers.

Under the voter awareness campaign being run in view of the Lok Sabha General Elections-2024, a seminar was organized by the Lucknow Development Authority  at the Mercury Auditorium of Indira Gandhi Pratishthan. Representatives of RWAs and Public Welfare Committee of various colonies and multi-storey societies of the city participated. During this, Divisional Commissioner, Lucknow Dr. Roshan Jacob, District Magistrate Suryapal Gangwar, Vice Chairman of Lucknow Development Authority Dr. Indramani Tripathi and Municipal Commissioner Inderjit Singh administered the voter oath, appealing to the people to vote in maximum numbers.

Divisional Commissioner Dr. Roshan Jacob said that whenever there is less turnout in elections, people discuss that the educated society is indifferent towards voting. We have to together change this thinking and vote first in  elections . She said that how loud the voice of Lucknow is in the country and the world, we will have to show this by fulfilling our duty of voting on the voting day.

Divisional Commissioner said that all the members of the Resident Welfare Association are partners of the administration in the elections. Therefore, you have as big a responsibility towards voting as the administration officials do. Therefore, RWA  ensure that every voter of the society comes out of his house to cast his vote. She said that the RWAs of the societies which get the highest number of votes will be honoured.

District Election Officer/District Magistrate Suryapal Gangwar said that a website Boothlocation.in was prepared at the district level for information about the election/voting process. Geographical location of the polling station, voter list, voter slip, information about voters queuing at the booth etc was available on this website. Voters  got information about the actual location of their booth, information about voters queuing at the booth and the expected waiting period. Meanwhile, Municipal Commissioner Inderjit Singh said that basic facilities were arranged in every polling station for the convenience of the voters. He said that just as we take our children for examinations, similarly we must vote without worrying about the sun and heat.

On this occasion, Vice Chairman of Lucknow Development Authority, Dr. Indramani Tripathi said that this time model polling centers were made by the authority in 14 apartments of the city, so that voters living in multi-storey societies can vote in their residential premises only. This effort of the authority was highly appreciated by all the RWA officials. He said that on the day of voting, private vehicles will be able to go up to a radius of 100 meters of the polling station. Due to this, voters will not face any inconvenience in reaching the polling station. Apart from this, adequate number of e-rickshaws were also deployed by RTO in various group housing and colonies, so that elderly, pregnant women and disabled people did not face any inconvenience in reaching the booth.

Additional District Magistrate Amit Kumar, RTO Udayveer Singh, Additional Secretary of the Authority Gyanendra Verma, Chief Engineer Ajay Kumar Singh, Finance Controller Deepak Singh, Chief City Planner KK Gautam and Special Executive Officers Devansh Trivedi and Ravi Nandan Singh and other officers and engineers were present in the program.
