LUCKNOW: Officials from the Uttar Pradesh Adarsh Vyapar Mandal expressed hope for a positive outcome on the GST front, following discussions on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent statements and signals regarding GST reform.
During a meeting at the organization’s state office, State President Sanjay Gupta said that ever since the GST was implemented, the country has hoped for a single-rate system. He noted that the multiple GST slabs have created confusion for both citizens and traders.
Gupta stated that if the GST Council approves a new proposed GST system with only two slabs, it will definitely benefit the people of India. “This will provide significant relief to the public and traders, both now and in the future,” he added.

The trader leader asserted that reducing the number of tax slabs would lead to a decrease in the prices of goods, which in turn would increase consumption. Gupta also said that a dual-rate system would pave the way for a single GST rate in the future, allowing India to move towards a single GST for the next generation.
The discussion was attended by the organization’s State Treasurer Mohd. Afzal, State City General Secretary Rajeev Shukla, Trans-Gomti President Aniruddh Nigam, Trans-Gomti In-charge Manish Pandey, State Vice President Iqbal Hasan, and City Vice President Yogendra Verma.
