Lucknow: On the occasion of International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, Prohibition Department, Uttar Pradesh organized a special program at International Buddhist Research Institute, Gomtinagar. On this occasion, Minister, Excise and Prohibition Department, Uttar Pradesh,  Nitin Agarwal participated as the Chief Guest. Dr. Hariom, Principal Secretary, Social Welfare Department presided over the program.

In his address,  Nitin Agarwal expressed concern over the increasing trend of drug addiction among the youth of the state and appealed to speed up the ‘Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan’ and ‘Ek Yudh Nasha Ke Viruddh’ campaign. He said that participation of the general public is very important in this work. Dr. Hariom discussed the damage caused to the family, society and nation due to drug abuse and appealed to stay away from drugs.

The program started with the inauguration of the prohibition exhibition. After this, the program was started by lighting the lamp. State Prohibition Officer  R.L Rajvanshi in his introductory address,  highlighted the achievements of the department and the importance of Anti-Drug Day. Thereafter, the departmental ‘Souvenir’ 2024 edition was released by the Minister.

In the program, Dr. Seema Rathore discussed the topic of yoga and de-addiction and appealed to adopt yoga in life. Dr. Adarsh ​​Tripathi gave detailed information on the ill effects of drug abuse and ways to prevent it. Dr. Satyendra Gupta highlighted the importance of participation of Panchayati Raj Institutions and women’s groups. During the program, public awareness towards prohibition was increased through various educational programs, documentaries and magic. In the end, prizes and certificates were awarded to the winning participants in the poster competition.
