Lucknow: Dr. Aditya Abha Singh, Assistant Professor in the Department of Botany, University of Lucknow, has been conferred the prestigious Prof. Y.S. Murty Medal (2025) by the All India Botanical Society (AIBS). The award was presented during the 48th All India Botanical Conference of The Indian Botanical Society and International Symposium on Biology and Biotechnology of Plant Diversity for Bioeconomy, hosted at North Eastern Hill University (NEHU), Shillong from October 29 to 30.
The Prof. Y.S. Murty Medal is among the notable recognitions bestowed annually by AIBS to distinguished academicians and researchers for outstanding contributions towards advancing botanical science in the country.
Dr. Singh has been honoured for her significant research on the responses of C4 plants—particularly maize—to the phytotoxic air pollutant ozone, and its interactive effects under changing climatic conditions, especially rising atmospheric carbon dioxide. In her award lecture, Dr. Singh presented research findings demonstrating that tropospheric ozone leads to considerable yield reduction in maize cultivars and adversely impacts their nutritional quality, which has serious implications for food security under climate change scenarios.
She expressed her gratitude to her mentor and doctoral supervisor, Prof. S.B. Agrawal, NASI Senior Scientist, Banaras Hindu University, for his continuous guidance and encouragement throughout her research journey.

Dr. Singh’s work focuses on air pollution, climate change interactions, and mitigation strategies to safeguard agricultural productivity and ecological sustainability.
The Indian Botanical Society annually recognizes pioneers in botanical research through its esteemed medals and honours, aimed at promoting excellence and inspiring young researchers in the field.
