Lucknow/Ambedkar Nagar: Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya addressed a public gathering (Jan Chaupal) at Kataria Yakubpur in Ambedkar Nagar district on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Emperor Chandragupta Maurya, asserting that the double engine government (BJP at both Centre and State) is working tirelessly to integrate the backward, deprived, and poor sections of society into the mainstream.
Maurya lauded Ambedkar Nagar’s development, calling it “commendable,” and emphasized the government’s commitment to national integrity and security. “Enemies have always cast their eyes on Akhand Bharat, but we are ever-ready to sacrifice every drop of blood to protect our borders,” he said.
He condemned the recent attack on unarmed tourists in Pahalgam, Kashmir, and reaffirmed that the government is fully prepared to take strict action against terrorists. “India’s armed forces are capable of eliminating the nefarious designs of terrorists. Our soldiers have already set an example through surgical strikes,” he added.
Labour Day & Social Justice Initiatives
On Labour Day (May 1), Maurya recalled the government’s decision to end the VIP red beacon culture in 2017 as a mark of respect to workers. He also welcomed the Centre’s decision on caste-based census, stating it would ensure social justice and mainstreaming of backward communities.

Massive Disbursal to SHGs and Housing Beneficiaries
As part of the program, the Deputy CM distributed:

A demo cheque of ₹5.11 crore to 341 Self Help Groups (SHGs) under CCL, benefitting 3,717 women.

A demo cheque of ₹2.99 crore to 239 SHGs under CIF and revolving funds, aiding 2,607 women.

Keys and sanction letters to beneficiaries under PM Awas Yojana-Gramin and CM Awas Yojana.

Job cards and animal shelter certificates under MNREGA.
Support for Micro-Entrepreneurs
Maurya also visited stalls of various departments including Agriculture, Horticulture, Rural Development, and UP Jal Nigam. Under the PM Micro Food Industry Upgradation Scheme, he handed:

A cheque of ₹8.45 lakh to Santosh Kumar Verma (for oil mill setup)

A cheque of ₹3.5 lakh to Jitendra Kumar (for bakery unit setup)
He instructed officials to promote solar-powered industries and ensure maximum beneficiary coverage under the scheme.
Review Meeting & Departmental Directives
Later, at a review meeting at the Circuit House, Maurya directed Block Development Officers to ensure that all eligible beneficiaries receive housing benefits and that updated lists are shared with public representatives.
He also directed the availability of water in all Amrit Sarovars to support wildlife during summer and called for transparent implementation of all welfare schemes.
