Heritage tour to be conducted in morning and evening shifts for tourists
Lucknow: A high-level review meeting was held under the chairmanship of Divisional Commissioner Vijay Vishwas Pant to ensure the successful and smooth operation of the proposed “Lucknow Darshan Tour”, which will be conducted through double-decker electric buses starting January 7, 2026. The meeting took place at the Commissioner’s Conference Hall.
Senior officials including the Managing Director of UP State Tourism, Secretary of the Lucknow Development Authority (LDA), Additional Municipal Commissioner, and representatives from the Transport Department, Tourism Department, and other concerned agencies were present.
During the meeting, detailed discussions were held on the proposed tour routes, schedule, ticketing system, safety standards, passenger amenities, publicity strategy, and inter-departmental coordination. The Divisional Commissioner emphasized that the double-decker e-buses should be equipped with experienced guides, proper seating arrangements, high standards of cleanliness, and robust emergency safety measures to ensure a comfortable experience for tourists.

The MD, UP State Tourism, informed the meeting that the Lucknow Darshan Tour will operate in two daily shifts—from 8:30 am to 11:30 am and 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Each double-decker e-bus, including the driver, will be able to accommodate up to 66 passengers. A mock trial of the bus is scheduled for January 3, 2026, to assess route feasibility and operational preparedness.
The Divisional Commissioner issued specific directions to the Lucknow Development Authority and the Municipal Corporation to ensure adequate lighting, cleanliness, and parking facilities at pickup and drop-off points, especially in residential areas. UP State Tourism was instructed to ensure bus availability, parking and charging infrastructure, deployment of drivers and fare collection agents, and compliance with Uttar Pradesh Motor Vehicle Rules, including regular maintenance, fitness certification, pollution checks, and insurance.
Highlighting the broader vision of the initiative, the Divisional Commissioner said that the Lucknow Darshan Tour would not only strengthen the city’s tourism potential but also serve as a significant step toward environment-friendly urban transport. All departments were directed to complete preparations in a time-bound manner to ensure seamless execution without inconvenience to tourists.
