DM Visakh G Inspects Chhath Puja Preparations at Laxman Mela Ground

Lucknow: Ahead of the upcoming Chhath Puja festival, District Magistrate of Lucknow, Shri Visakh G, conducted an extensive inspection of the Chhath Puja Ghat at Laxman Mela Ground on Sunday. During the visit, the DM reviewed the ongoing preparations and issued necessary directions to officials from the concerned departments to ensure smooth and safe celebrations.

The District Magistrate first inspected the worship areas, entry and exit routes for devotees, security arrangements, as well as the lighting and cleanliness at the site. He instructed the Irrigation Department to maintain a controlled and clean water level at the ghat so that devotees face no inconvenience. “Special attention must be paid to the quality of water at all Chhath ghats, and no impurities should be allowed in the river,” he emphasized.

The DM also directed the Municipal Corporation officials to ensure regular cleaning of the ghats, proper garbage disposal, and adequate lighting. He further instructed that all high-mast and temporary lights remain fully functional to prevent any darkness during evening and morning offerings (arghya).

To ensure the safety and convenience of devotees, medical camps, ambulances, fire brigade vehicles, divers, and boats have been deployed at the venue. Additional entry and exit points have also been created to prevent overcrowding and maintain smooth movement. The Traffic Department has been instructed to regulate vehicular flow effectively and clearly mark parking zones around the venue.

The District Magistrate informed that over 50 locations in urban Lucknow, along with several sites in rural areas, will host Chhath Puja celebrations this year. He added that, similar to the arrangements at Laxman Mela Ground, all major ghats will be equipped with security, sanitation, lighting, drinking water, and medical facilities.

Senior officials including the Municipal Commissioner, Chief Medical Officer, Additional District Magistrate (City–East), and other departmental officers were present during the inspection.
