Divyang Maha-Gathbandhan Unhappy with Talks, Plans Protest at Vidhan Sabha on July 30

Demand for Direct Meeting with CM and Chief Secretary; 27-Point Charter Includes Job Security, Education, and ₹5000 Pension

Lucknow — Unhappy with the outcome of ongoing negotiations, the Divyang Maha-Gathbandhan (Differently-Abled Grand Alliance) has announced a mass protest at the Uttar Pradesh Vidhan Sabha on July 30. The announcement came after a delegation from the alliance held talks with Amar Nath Upadhyay, Special Secretary, Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, Government of Uttar Pradesh.

During the dialogue, which was also attended by Joint Director Jaynath Yadav, members of the Maha-Gathbandhan expressed dissatisfaction, asserting that their core demands remained unaddressed. The coalition is pressing for a 27-point charter that includes guaranteed access to employment, healthcare, education, social security, and a ₹5,000 monthly disability pension.

Following the initial round of talks, ACP Hazratganj Vikas Jaiswal called for a follow-up meeting at his office. During this interaction, Virendra Kumar, General Secretary of the Maha-Gathbandhan, urged that a meeting be arranged with Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath or Chief Secretary to the CM. ACP Jaiswal assured the delegation that he would forward their request and try to facilitate a meeting.

However, the assurance failed to satisfy the protestors. Virendra Kumar later stated, “Without direct talks with the Chief Minister or the Chief Secretary, there is no scope for meaningful resolution. If such a meeting is not granted, we will proceed with our planned demonstration at the Vidhan Sabha on July 30.”

To manage the upcoming protest, four organizing committees have been formed, each comprising five key officials from the alliance.

The demands also include 100% guaranteed access to basic facilities for persons with disabilities, greater employment opportunities, free quality education, priority in government housing schemes, and comprehensive healthcare coverage.

Today’s meeting saw participation from:

  • Virendra Kumar – General Secretary, Maha-Gathbandhan
  • Manish Prasad – President
  • Jitendra Verma – Treasurer
  • Tanyamay Srivastava – Spokesperson
  • Piyush Mishra – President, Akhil Uttar Pradesh Badhir Sangh
  • Dharmendra Yadav – President, All Divyang Vikas Sangathan
  • Ajit Kumar – Divyang Vikas Society
  • Mukesh Kumar – Viklang Kalyan Samiti
  • Ram Nihal Dwivedi – Lekhpal Abhyarthi Sangh
  • Sandeep Saini – Divyang Jeevan Jyoti Foundation

Despite the government’s continued efforts to initiate dialogue, the coalition remains firm on its stance that action—not just promises—will be acceptable. All eyes are now on the state administration as July 30 draws near, with the Maha-Gathbandhan gearing up for a potentially large-scale protest at the heart of Uttar Pradesh’s power centre.
