Lucknow: A review meeting on the site selection for proposed helipad construction at district, tehsil, and block headquarters across the Lucknow Division was held under the chairmanship of Divisional Commissioner Vijay Vishwas Pant. The review was conducted through virtual mode and attended by Chief Development Officers of all districts in the division along with concerned officials of the Public Works Department (PWD).
During the meeting, the PWD informed that six helipad sites have been proposed in Lucknow district, and site selection for all locations has been completed. The Divisional Commissioner directed that cost estimates be submitted promptly for approval.
In Raebareli district, helipad construction has been proposed at 16 locations, of which eight sites have been finalized so far. Instructions were issued to expedite the selection of the remaining sites.
Similarly, in Sitapur district, 18 helipad sites have been proposed, with six sites finalized. However, two sites require re-selection due to the presence of high-tension power lines. In Lakhimpur Kheri district, eight out of 14 proposed sites have been finalized.
Progress was reported to be satisfactory in Unnao district, where 15 out of 16 sites have been finalized, while in Hardoi district, all 19 proposed helipad sites have been successfully selected.
The Divisional Commissioner directed that pending site selection in remaining districts be completed on priority and instructed the PWD to immediately submit estimates for helipad construction for early approval.
The meeting also reviewed the status of contract formation for approved PWD works. Officials informed that out of 1,117 sanctioned works under the PWD in Lucknow Division, contracts for 770 works have already been executed. Additionally, approval letters for around 100 works have been issued, with a target to complete contract formation by February 9, 2026.
Expressing concern over delays, the Divisional Commissioner issued strict directions to finalize contracts for all remaining pending works and ensure timely commencement of development projects, so that no avoidable delays occur.
