Divisional Commissioner and IG Inspect Deva Mela; Directives Issued on Women’s Safety and Event Management

Barabanki, Lucknow | Divisional Commissioner Rajesh Kumar and Inspector General of Police Praveen Kumar conducted a comprehensive inspection of the Deva Mela in Barabanki, focusing on security, crowd management, and overall arrangements.

The senior officials were welcomed by District Magistrate Shashank Tripathi and Superintendent of Police Arpit Vijayvargiya with floral bouquets on Monday. They toured the fairgrounds to assess safety measures, traffic management, parking, electrical security, food safety, and other logistical arrangements, providing on-the-spot directions to the concerned officials.

The officials emphasized regular inspection of electrical wiring and equipment to prevent any accidents. They instructed authorities to maintain strict vigilance over the quality of food sold at the mela and ensure cleanliness throughout the venue. Effective crowd management and smooth traffic flow were highlighted, along with organized operation of parking zones to avoid inconvenience to devotees and visitors. Adequate lighting and provision of essential facilities at designated parking areas were also stressed.

During the inspection, the Divisional Commissioner and IG reviewed the Women’s Help Center, established under Mission Shakti 5.0, engaging with women at the center to understand safety and support measures. They underscored the importance of making the center a robust platform for security, counseling, and prompt assistance, ensuring a safe and supportive environment for women attending the mela.

Following the site visit, both officials held a detailed meeting with sector and zonal magistrates along with their police counterparts to review arrangements and ensure the smooth and secure conduct of the fair.
