District Panchayat Raj Officer Accused of Harassing Female Sanitation Worker

Lucknow/Ghazipur. District Panchayat Raj Officer (DPRO) Anshul Maurya of Ghazipur, Uttar Pradesh, has once again found himself in the spotlight, this time due to allegations of harassment leveled against him by a female sanitation worker.

The incident came to light when the female sanitation worker lodged a complaint against DPRO Anshul Maurya with Ghazipur’s Chief Development Officer (CDO) Santosh Kumar Vaishya, accusing him of misconduct.

According to the complainant, the DPRO exerted both mental and physical pressure on her, subjecting her to harassment. A delegation from the State Employees’ Joint Council accompanied the female worker during her complaint submission, urging authorities to take the matter seriously and conduct a thorough investigation.

Chief Development Officer Santosh Kumar Vaishya took swift action and assured a prompt and impartial inquiry into the allegations.

This case has posed a significant challenge for district officials, highlighting that incidents of workplace harassment persist even among government employees. The incident serves as a stark reminder that no leniency should be exercised in such cases, as harassment violates not only women’s rights but also the broader principles of workplace ethics and safety.

The administration has adopted a serious stance on the matter, but further measures are required in the coming days to ensure the safety and protection of female employees in government offices.
