Congress to Build 2027 UP Assembly Poll Strategy on District Organizations: Avinash Pandey
Lucknow : The Congress Party has kickstarted its preparations for the 2027 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections with a strong focus on grassroots organizational restructuring. In a key strategy meeting held under the ongoing Sangathan Srijan Abhiyan (Organization Building Campaign), party leaders resolved to empower district committees down to the booth level. Senior party leadership asserted that ticket distribution for the 2027 elections would be based on the recommendations of the district units.
“District organizations will form the backbone of the 2027 election campaign,” said Avinash Pandey, All India Congress Committee General Secretary and UP in-charge. He emphasized that the role of local cadres is vital in mobilizing support, organizing grassroots campaigns, and engaging directly with the people. “Hence, their opinions will carry the highest weight when it comes to ticket distribution,” he added.
Ajay Rai, President of the Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee (UPCC), echoed this view, stating, “Only the district committees’ recommended panels will be considered. The people working at the ground level are best placed to identify viable candidates who can truly strengthen the party.”
Congress spokesperson Anshu Awasthi informed the media that on the fourth day of the campaign, a key review meeting was held for the Purvanchal Zone, which covers districts like Siddharthnagar, Maharajganj, Gorakhpur, Basti, Kushinagar, Azamgarh, Mau, Deoria, Ballia, Sant Kabir Nagar, Ayodhya, and Ambedkar Nagar.
The meeting was attended by national and state-level Congress leaders including Avinash Pandey, UPCC Chief Ajay Rai, Leader of Legislative Party Aradhana Mishra ‘Mona’, AICC National Secretary and co-incharge for UP Satyanarayan Patel, as well as coordinators and district/city presidents of the respective regions.
During the session, the current status of the organizational restructuring was reviewed. Avinash Pandey instructed party units to complete the formation of block-level and booth-level committees within a fixed timeframe. He also stressed that active and dedicated workers would be appointed to significant positions within the organization.
Ajay Rai reiterated that Congress would prioritize feedback from the district committees, especially those that have led robust local campaigns. “We will reward those who have worked tirelessly to strengthen the party at the grassroots,” he said.
The party also discussed district-specific issues from each Purvanchal zone and resolved to incorporate important local concerns into the party’s manifesto for the 2027 elections.
The meeting was attended by several senior party figures including UP Congress Vice President Dinesh Singh, State General Secretary Anil Yadav, and zone-level coordinators and officials. The Congress’s move signals a shift toward decentralized decision-making, aiming to energize the grassroots and lay a strong foundation for electoral success in 2027.
