Director General of Prisons Emphasizes Regular Yoga Practice on International Yoga Day

Lucknow : On the occasion of International Yoga Day, a special yoga session was organized at Dr. Sampurnanand Prison Training Institute, Lucknow, in the esteemed presence of  P.C. Meena, Director General of Prisons Administration and Reform Services, Uttar Pradesh.

Addressing the staff and trainees, DG Shri Meena underscored the transformative value of yoga, calling it a vital tool for balance, peace, and health in life. He appealed to all present to make yoga an integral part of their daily routine, highlighting its role in stabilizing both body and mind.

The yoga session was conducted in accordance with the protocol prescribed by the Government of India, and led by Shiv Kumar Srivastava of The Art of Living Foundation, accompanied by his team members Nishchal Kochar,  Srishti Tripathi, and  Deeksha Srivastava. They guided participants from both the Prison Headquarters and Training Institute through various asanas and breathing techniques aimed at promoting physical and mental well-being.

At the conclusion of the event, Dr. Ram Dhani, Director of the Training Institute, extended his gratitude to DG Meena and the yoga instructors for their valuable contribution.

The event was also attended by key officials including Deputy Inspector General of Prisons  Pradeep Gupta, Subhash Chandra Shakya, Senior Superintendent (Headquarters)  Shashikant Singh, and Executive Officer of the Training Institute  Sharendu Tripathi, along with numerous officers and staff from the Prisons Department.

The celebration served as a reminder of the importance of wellness in professional life and reinforced the department’s commitment to fostering physical and mental health through the practice of yoga.
