Lucknow: Lieutenant General Virendra Vats, YSM, SM, VSM, Director General of the National Cadet Corps (NCC), visited the Uttar Pradesh NCC Directorate in Lucknow. During his visit, the General Officer was briefed on the various activities conducted by the directorate’s 11 groups and 110 NCC units across the state. He also interacted with NCC cadets, offering them guidance and encouragement.
Accompanied by Major General Vikram Kumar, Additional Director General of the Uttar Pradesh Directorate, Lt. Gen. Vats received a Guard of Honour presented by the cadets at the Lucknow Group Headquarters. He later visited the Boat Club, where he reviewed the training and activities of the Naval Wing cadets.
At the Directorate Headquarters, the Director General also held discussions with all group commanders and issued directions aimed at further strengthening the quality of cadet training under the largest NCC Directorate in the country.
In his address, Lt. Gen. Vats praised the consistent efforts of the Uttar Pradesh NCC Directorate in shaping and empowering cadets. He commended the cadets’ enthusiasm, discipline, and dedication, reflected in their performance during camps, adventure activities, and community engagement programs.

Encouraging cadets to always uphold the motto of “Nation First”, the Director General highlighted the vital role of NCC alumni in nation-building and stressed that the organization continues to offer unparalleled opportunities for youth development.
Lt. Gen. Vats also held an informal meeting with Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, where he apprised him of NCC’s ongoing initiatives and discussed future opportunities for students in the state — particularly those from border regions who seek to share their experiences and aspirations through NCC participation.
