Lucknow: As Uttar Pradesh prepares for the upcoming Dhanteras, Diwali, Bhaiya Dooj, and Chhath Puja celebrations, DGP Prashant Kumar has issued a series of directives to ensure public safety amid crowded markets and festive gatherings. With an anticipated increase in footfall in marketplaces and public spaces, the DGP emphasized heightened vigilance and proactive security measures to maintain order and prevent any mishaps.
Key instructions include:
- Enhanced Police Deployment: Police personnel will be strategically stationed, including plainclothes officers in heavily crowded areas, to monitor activities and ensure safety. Special focus will be placed on bullion markets, with adequate police presence to deter theft or untoward incidents.
- Explosive and Firecracker Shop Regulations: Firecracker vendors are instructed to set up away from densely populated areas, ensuring shops have sufficient fire extinguishers to handle emergencies. Additionally, shops will follow silent firecracker guidelines to minimize noise pollution during celebrations.
- Surveillance and Security: Police will keep a close watch on bus and railway stations, shopping malls, and other crowded public places. Anti-social elements will be monitored, with posters and checkpoints set up near religious locations to reinforce safety.
- Public Awareness and Support: The DGP has instructed local police to engage in discussions with influential community members to strengthen public cooperation. Authorities will ensure that essential helplines and contact numbers are widely publicized for emergency access.
- Ayodhya Deepotsav Arrangements: For the Deepotsav in Ayodhya, access control, picket deployment, and parking management will be strictly enforced. A patrolling SOP for the Saryu River will be prepared, and AS and BDS teams will inspect VIP and VVIP areas to ensure security.
- Lighting and Safety at Ghats: Ghats will be well-lit with alternate lighting setups, and water police, divers, and flood relief teams will be stationed to ensure the safety of festival-goers near water bodies.
- Social Media Monitoring: Social media platforms will be monitored for any activities or posts that may disturb peace or incite unrest during the festival period.
These measures are designed to create a safe and secure environment for residents and visitors alike, allowing them to celebrate the upcoming festivals with peace and joy. The DGP urges everyone to cooperate with the police and adhere to safety protocols for a harmonious festive season.
