New Delhi – In a significant move for India’s military strategy, Lieutenant General Rajiv Ghai, currently the Director General of Military Operations (DGMO), has been appointed as the Deputy Chief of Army Staff (Strategy). This appointment is seen as crucial for enhancing the Indian Army’s war preparedness and strategic planning.

Lieutenant General Ghai has a distinguished career, previously serving as the DGMO where he demonstrated exceptional strategic prowess, notably during “Operation Sindoor.” This operation reportedly targeted 11 Pakistani airbases and neutralized over 100 terrorists, showcasing his tactical brilliance.

From Operation Sindoor to Ceasefire Negotiations: A Mastermind of Strategy

Ghai’s expertise extends beyond operational planning; he played a pivotal role in the ceasefire negotiations with Pakistan. It’s reported that Pakistan’s DGMO directly contacted Rajiv Ghai for the ceasefire, underscoring his strategic and diplomatic acumen.

New Responsibilities, New Challenges

In his new role as Deputy Chief of Army Staff (Strategy), Lieutenant General Ghai will undertake even broader responsibilities. These include overseeing the Operations and Intelligence Directorate, planning military strategies, and coordinating with the Indian Air Force and Navy. Ghai’s Experience in Counter-Terrorism Operations

A decorated officer from the Kumaon Regiment, Rajiv Ghai has led numerous counter-terrorism operations as the General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the Chinar Corps in Jammu and Kashmir. His experience also includes assessing security along the India-Myanmar border in Manipur, further bolstering his vision and expertise in strengthening the army’s strategic framework.
