Deputy CM Inaugurates State-of-the-Art Cath Lab at RMLIMS; Assures Full Support for Advanced Cardiac Care

Lucknow: A new state-of-the-art Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory (Cath Lab) was inaugurated at Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia Institute of Medical Sciences (RMLIMS), Lucknow, by Deputy Chief Minister and Cabinet Minister for Medical Education, Medical & Health, Family Welfare, and Mother & Child Welfare, Government of Uttar Pradesh, Brajesh Pathak.

Speaking to the media after the inauguration, the Deputy Chief Minister said that the Uttar Pradesh government is fully committed to strengthening advanced cardiac care facilities in the public sector. He assured that the Department of Cardiology will be provided with all necessary modern equipment and technological support, ensuring that no patient has to wait for life-saving cardiac treatment.

The newly inaugurated Cath Lab is equipped with advanced imaging and interventional technologies, which will significantly reduce waiting time for cardiac procedures and enhance the overall efficiency of the cardiology department.

The Deputy Chief Minister further informed that the procurement process is underway for another Cath Lab, along with two Treadmill Test (TMT) machines, three advanced echocardiography machines, and one IVUS system. With these additions, RMLIMS will soon be fully equipped with cutting-edge cardiac care infrastructure.

Appreciating the STEMI programme being run at RMLIMS, he said that it has been playing a crucial role in providing timely life-saving treatment to heart attack patients, thereby improving survival outcomes.

On this occasion, Director Dr C. M. Singh, Head of Cardiology Dr Bhuvan Chandra Tiwari, CMS Dr Vikram Singh, MS Dr Arvind, Executive Registrar Dr Subrat Chandra, along with cardiology faculty members, resident doctors, nursing staff, technicians, and other employees were present.

Rising Patient Load and Cardiac Interventions

Over the past one year, the Cardiology Department of RMLIMS has witnessed a significant increase in patient numbers, reflecting growing public trust in the institute. During this period, 57,132 patients were examined in the cardiology OPD, while 6,392 patients were admitted for advanced cardiac treatment.

Under interventional cardiology services, the department performed 4,748 coronary angiographies, 3,022 angioplasties, and 277 pacemaker implantations over the year. These figures highlight RMLIMS’ emergence as a leading tertiary-level cardiac care centre in Uttar Pradesh, providing timely and advanced treatment to patients suffering from complex heart ailments.
