Lucknow — Japanese automotive giant DENSO Corporation has announced an investment of Rs 250 crore to establish a cutting-edge electric vehicle (EV) component manufacturing plant in Gautam Budh Nagar, Uttar Pradesh. The upcoming facility will focus on producing motor generators, which are crucial components for hybrid and electric vehicles, strengthening the EV ecosystem in the state.
The agreement was finalised during a high-level meeting at DENSO’s headquarters in Kariya, Aichi Prefecture, Japan. A delegation from Uttar Pradesh, led by Principal Secretary Alok Kumar and Finance Minister Suresh Khanna, visited DENSO’s office as part of their official tour during the World Expo 2025 in Osaka. During the visit, discussions with DENSO officials centered on technological collaboration, skill development, and local employment generation. The UP delegation also met with key leaders from Osaka, including Kida Kaoru and Kinjo Katsunori, to promote the state’s business-friendly policies, skilled workforce, and its growing stature as a manufacturing hub.
The Invest UP team showcased Uttar Pradesh’s robust EV policies and supportive infrastructure at the World Expo, underlining the state’s commitment to fostering clean mobility and green technologies. The proposed DENSO facility is expected to serve as a critical step in building a localized supply chain for electric vehicles, making Uttar Pradesh even more attractive to global green investors.
By producing motor generators for hybrid and electric vehicles, the new plant will not only aid India’s transition to sustainable transport but also create substantial employment opportunities, foster technical skill development among youth, and further anchor Uttar Pradesh as a national leader in green technology.
This strategic investment by DENSO comes at a time when the global automotive industry is rapidly shifting towards electric mobility.
