Mumbai: Deepti Sharma, one of the standout stars of the TATA WPL, returned to UP Warriorz after being acquired via right-to-match for ₹3.2 crore, making her the second most expensive player in the auction. Speaking on JioHotstar’s Match Centre Live Auction Special, Sharma shared her excitement about rejoining the franchise, reflected on her growth as a batter in the WPL, and highlighted Phoebe Litchfield as a key addition to the squad.
Expressing her joy, Deepti said: “I’m from Uttar Pradesh and have strong ties with UP Warriorz. The management has always been excellent and supportive. The auction was thrilling from the start, and I’m delighted that UP Warriorz bought me back. I’m excited to represent them again.”
On her development through the TATA WPL: “The WPL has played a massive role in my growth. The intense practice, the year I won MVP, and the focus on expanding my batting shots helped me mature as a player and improve my strike-rate strategically. That’s been WPL’s biggest contribution to my career.”
Sharing her thoughts on the new squad: “The atmosphere has been great from the start. Seeing new players from different teams join UP Warriorz creates a positive vibe. The management is incredibly supportive, and the changes I made to my batting two years ago were transformative.”

On standout new signings like Phoebe Litchfield and Meg Lanning: “It’s hard to pick just one. Players like Phoebe Litchfield and Meg Lanning are performing brilliantly. Meg Lanning has been outstanding in the Big Bash, while Harleen Deol shone in the World Cup. If I had to choose, I’d go with Phoebe Litchfield.”
With Sharma back and a strengthened squad, UP Warriorz are gearing up for a competitive TATA WPL 2026 season.
