Defence Minister Rajnath Singh Welcomes WWB Initiative, Says It Will Open New Doors for Indian Wrestlers

Lucknow: Defence Minister  Rajnath Singh has extended his full support to the Wrestling World of Bharat (WWB) initiative, applauding its vision, ambition and potential impact on India’s sporting landscape. Praising the founders of WWB, he said the platform will create new international avenues for emerging Indian wrestling talent while contributing meaningfully to the nation’s growing sports economy.

Rajnath Singh also commended the decision to host the grand international event on UP Diwas, 24 January 2026, at KD Singh Babu Stadium in Lucknow, noting that the occasion will not only celebrate Uttar Pradesh’s spirit but also showcase India’s rising stature in global sports entertainment.

Expressing confidence in  Hasan Yaqoob, Co-Chairman ASSOCHAM and Mentor, WWB;  Raj Singh, Founder, WWB; and  R. P. Singh, the Defence Minister said the initiative reflects strong leadership and a forward-looking approach. He added that WWB has the potential to instil pride among India’s youth, inspire new aspirations, and strengthen the country’s presence on the world stage.

The support marks an important boost for WWB as it prepares to bring a new chapter of professional wrestling to India.
