Day 3 at Repertwahr: Poetry, Laughter, and Theatre Magic

Lucknow: Lucknow witnessed a cultural extravaganza on the third day of Repertwahr Festival Season 12, with a lineup that left the audience spellbound. The day began on a soulful note with Laksh Maheshwari’s slam poetry, which resonated with literature enthusiasts gathered at the Literature Stage. His evocative verses set the tone for a day that celebrated art in its myriad forms.

Next up was the multi-talented songwriter and storyteller, Rahgir, whose melodious tunes struck a chord with the audience, weaving stories through music. The highlight of the day, however, was the presence of literary legend Javed Akhtar, who engaged in a thought-provoking conversation with Roshan Abbas. Their discussion delved deep into the relevance of literature and poetry in contemporary society, leaving listeners with a renewed appreciation for the written word.

Laughter, Theatre, and a Bollywood Connection

As the evening unfolded, laughter echoed through the festival grounds with Harsh Gujral’s impeccable stand-up comedy. His relatable humor and sharp wit brought tears of joy to the audience. The stage then transformed for an unforgettable theatrical experience with Faezeh Jalali’s slapstick tragic comedy, Runaway Brides. The play featured a stellar performance by Junaid Khan, son of Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan, adding an element of star power to the festival’s lineup.

Celebrating Local Talent

The Fankaar Stage, a platform dedicated to showcasing emerging local artists, continued its mission of providing a spotlight to new talent. Day 3 saw an impressive lineup of performances that demonstrated the depth of Lucknow’s artistic community.

The night concluded with electrifying beats from DJ Karan Kanchan, whose energetic Bollywood remixes had the crowd grooving till the very end, wrapping up the day on a high note.

What began in 2009 as a modest theatre festival has now evolved into India’s Most Unique Performing Arts Festival, combining theatre, music, literature, comedy, food, and a crafts market. The festival continues to push boundaries, bringing people together to celebrate art in all its forms.
