Cybersecurity Strengthened in Uttar Pradesh: Over 1,400 Youth Trained and Awareness Reached 68,000 People

Lucknow: The Government of India has taken significant steps to bolster cybersecurity research, training, and awareness in Uttar Pradesh, ensuring safer digital experiences for citizens.

The Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC) in Noida has established a self-paced Cyber Range facility featuring nearly 100 automated scenarios based on real cyber-attacks. So far, over 6,000 students and officials have been trained, including approximately 1,400 beneficiaries from Uttar Pradesh.

IIT Kanpur has set up the Cybersecurity and Cyber-Physical Systems Innovation Hub (C3iHub) under the National Cyber-Physical Systems Mission. The hub provides national-level testbeds for critical infrastructure such as power generation and distribution, water purification, manufacturing automation, and industrial robotics. It also conducts research, vulnerability assessment, and real-time threat detection on Industrial Control Systems (ICS), along with hands-on ICS cybersecurity training for government officials and stakeholders.

Under the Information Security Education and Awareness (ISEA) project, 401 awareness workshops have been conducted across Uttar Pradesh, reaching 68,388 participants. Key districts include Agra (10 workshops, 1,046 participants), Gautam Buddha Nagar (90 workshops, 18,040 participants), Lucknow (35 workshops, 9,752 participants), and Mainpuri (77 workshops, 17,232 participants). Initiatives such as National Cyber Security Awareness Month (October), Safer Internet Day (February), Swachhta Pakhwada, and monthly Cyber Awareness Days educate citizens on cyber hygiene.

The Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In) organized 53 training programs in 2024–25 with 32,000 participants nationwide, including over 2,100 from Uttar Pradesh. IIT Kanpur’s Technology Innovation Hub (TIH) is providing advanced certifications in cybersecurity and cyber defense, along with blockchain programs, training more than 1,200 individuals. Additionally, 23 programs have benefited over 700 government and PSU officials, while 10,000 students (SC/ST, free of cost) received skill development in 2023.

Further measures, including the Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023, National Cyber Coordination Centre (NCCC), Cyber Swachhta Kendra (CSK), mock drills, 231 auditing organizations, AI-based attack alerts, BOM guidelines for software and hardware, and cybersecurity guidelines for smart cities, are being implemented to secure Uttar Pradesh’s IT ecosystem.
