New Delhi: The Culinary Academy of India (CAI) has set a global benchmark with a 550-kilogram chocolate chessboard spanning 16-by-16 feet. Honoring chess legends like Viswanathan Anand and D Gukesh, this edible masterpiece features a stunning three-foot-tall king piece, showcasing exceptional craftsmanship.
Over 50 aspiring chefs and 10 senior instructors worked tirelessly for 96 hours to create the massive sculpture. Solid chocolate slabs formed the base, reinforced with armature for stability. Maintaining the chocolate at an ideal temperature to prevent softening was a significant challenge.
Under the leadership of Chef Sudhakar N. Rao, with key contributions from Chef Attique and Chef Akshay Kulkarni, this feat became a reality.
The unveiling ceremony featured chess prodigy Divith Reddy, Under-8 World Champion, along with dignitaries Prof. Balakista Reddy and Prof. Sriram Venkatesh.

This record-breaking creation reflects the academy’s dedication to culinary artistry while celebrating India’s rich chess heritage.
