Lucknow – In its ongoing efforts to spread scientific awareness and healthcare services in the community, CSIR-Central Drug Research Institute (CSIR-CDRI), Lucknow, organized a health awareness program and free medical check-up camp on Wednesday. The event, held at Primary School, Nai Basti, Dhanewa, Malihabad, was conducted under the aegis of the CSIR-Jigyasa program.
The program’s primary objective was to educate people in rural areas about lifestyle diseases like obesity and diabetes, which are rapidly increasing across all age groups. Special emphasis was placed on the importance of early detection, disease prevention, and the necessity of adopting a mindful lifestyle.
A dedicated 15-member team comprising CSIR-CDRI scientists, technical staff, and PhD scholars conducted various health screenings, including blood pressure, blood sugar, and Body Mass Index (BMI) measurements. Alongside the check-ups, informative sessions were held on topics such as balanced diet, regular exercise, and mental health.

Over 170 villagers benefited from the free health check-up services provided at the camp. Each participant received personalized health counseling based on their reports and was encouraged to adopt healthy habits for long-term well-being.

The success of the program was significantly supported by the headmistress and other teachers of Primary School, Nai Basti, Dhanewa, Malihabad. The event was successfully concluded with the active participation of Village Head Vipin Kumar, teachers, and the local community. The enthusiastic turnout from the villagers underscored their growing awareness regarding health education and prevention.
