Lucknow | India’s star all-rounder and Women’s ODI World Cup Player of the Tournament, Deepti Sharma, received a grand reception on Friday during her first visit to Lucknow after India’s triumphant World Cup campaign. Now officially serving as a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) in the Uttar Pradesh Police under the sports quota, Deepti arrived in full uniform, marking a proud moment for both the force and the sporting community.
Warm Welcome from Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath
Deepti first visited the official residence of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, greeting him with folded hands and posing for photographs alongside her family. The Chief Minister congratulated her for her outstanding performance in the World Cup and for bringing glory to the nation and the state.

Earlier in the day, the Uttar Pradesh cabinet applauded the achievements of the women’s cricket team and announced a ₹1.5 crore cash reward for Deepti.
Felicitation at UP Police Headquarters
Following her meeting with the CM, Deepti reached the UP Police Headquarters, where she was felicitated by DGP Rajeev Krishna. Senior officers and staff members gathered to honour her, presenting her with a bouquet and a commemorative memento. Many also took photographs with the officer-athlete, celebrating her success both on and off the field.

The DGP said Deepti’s successes reflect the growing sports culture within the UP Police:
“It is a matter of great honour that a player from our department has excelled at the international level. Deepti’s achievements inspire our entire force,” he noted, adding that the state’s progressive sports policy has helped nurture several athletes within the police ranks who have excelled nationally and internationally.
A Stellar World Cup Performance
Deepti Sharma was instrumental in India’s victorious World Cup journey on home soil. She amassed 215 runs and claimed 22 wickets, delivering match-winning performances throughout the tournament. Her exceptional all-round show earned her the prestigious ‘Player of the Tournament’ award.
Her visit and felicitation showcased not just her personal achievements but also the strengthened sporting ecosystem within the Uttar Pradesh Police. As Deepti continues her dual role as an international cricketer and police officer, she stands as an inspiration to young athletes across the state and country.
