CPI Strongly Condemns Rape of Minor Girl in Hathras

Hathras: The District Council of the Communist Party of India (CPI) has strongly condemned the horrific rape of a 7-year-old girl in Visawar village of Hathras district. In a meeting held by the CPI, party members expressed deep sympathy for the affected family and wished for the speedy recovery of the young victim. The party demanded the strictest possible action against the perpetrator and urged the administration to provide adequate financial assistance to the victim’s family.

During the meeting, CPI leaders voiced their outrage over the deteriorating law and order situation in Uttar Pradesh, accusing the BJP-led double-engine government of complete failure in maintaining public safety. They noted with grave concern that the state has witnessed an alarming rise in heinous crimes such as rapes, gang rapes, and even murders following sexual assault, especially against women and minor girls. Hathras, in particular, has become a hotspot for such grave incidents, causing immense distress to peace-loving citizens, the party said.

The CPI also criticized the ruling party for allegedly politicizing the incident for communal gains. The leaders expressed concern over the BJP’s actions, claiming that the party has poisoned social harmony to such an extent that incidents of rape and violence are often weaponized against members of a particular religious community. Referring to an attack on a religious site in Visawar village during public outrage, they alleged that the slogans chanted—aligned with BJP’s narrative—were evidence of the party’s role in inciting communal tension.

Highlighting the communal mindset of the BJP, CPI leaders questioned whether attacks on temples would be justified if a senior professor from a reputed Hathras college—accused of sexual harassment of female students—were found guilty. They argued that such an approach is unacceptable and violates the principles of the Constitution and the rule of law. CPI firmly denounced the tendency of BJP supporters to take the law into their own hands when minorities are accused in any incident.

The CPI did, however, commend the local administration for effectively managing the situation and maintaining vigilance across the district. But the party expressed skepticism over the police’s narrative regarding the accused’s alleged escape attempt and subsequent police firing, calling it a fabrication. They accused the police under the Yogi Adityanath-led government of frequently staging such events to appease political masters.

The CPI also appealed to all citizens to maintain peace and harmony in the region.

During the meeting, organizational matters were also discussed, with a key resolution being the decision to hold the district conference on May 4.

The meeting was specially addressed by Dr. Girish, National Secretary of the Communist Party of India. It was presided over by Comrade Hoshiar Singh and conducted by Comrade Sanjay Khan. Other speakers included former district secretary Charan Singh Baghel, joint secretaries Comrade R.D. Arya and Satyapal Rawal, City Convenor Comrade Vinod Karotia, as well as Comrades Uday Singh Gautam, Nahar Singh, Vijay Kumar Paurush, and Rajaram Kushwaha.
