Washington D.C.: Fans of Netflix’s critically acclaimed crime drama Adolescence may have reason to hope for a second season, following remarks from co-creator and star Stephen Graham after his Golden Globe victory.
The 2025 limited series, created by Graham and Jack Thorne and directed by Philip Barantini, explores the aftermath of a teenage murder in real-time, earning widespread praise for its intense storytelling and performances. Graham, who portrays father Eddie Miller, won the Golden Globe for Best Male Actor in a Limited Series, Anthology, or TV Movie.
Asked backstage about the show’s future, Graham teased the possibility of a continuation, saying the idea was “somewhere in the deep recesses” of his and Thorne’s minds. “We’ll pull it out in three or four years, so stay tuned,” he added, leaving fans eager for more.
Talks About a Follow-Up Already Underway
Discussions about extending the series reportedly began last year. Plan B co-presidents Dede Gardner and Jeremy Kleiner revealed they had been consulting with director Philip Barantini on potential directions for the story. Gardner emphasized that any continuation would preserve the show’s core “DNA” while exploring new narrative possibilities.

Adolescence centers on Eddie Miller’s life unraveling after his 13-year-old son Jamie, played by Owen Cooper, commits a serious crime. Cooper earned a Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actor, while Erin Doherty, portraying therapist Briony Ariston, also took home a supporting actress award.
The series garnered five Golden Globe nominations in total and has been a major contender throughout awards season. At the 2025 Emmys, it received 13 nominations and won eight awards. Streaming-wise, it became Netflix’s second most-watched English-language series ever, amassing over 146 million views in its first 91 days.
With creators hinting at a future return, fans are left eagerly speculating whether Adolescence will transform from a limited series into a multi-season phenomenon.
