Lucknow : The Congress party has made it clear that booth-level management will be its most potent weapon in the run-up to the 2027 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections. Speaking at the conclusion of a six-day organizational review in Lucknow, All India Congress Committee (AICC) General Secretary and UP in-charge Avinash Pandey emphasized the party’s renewed grassroots strategy to counter the BJP’s influence in the state.
The review meeting, held under the Organization Creation Campaign, was attended by Congress leaders and coordinators from the Prayag Zone, which includes districts like Varanasi, Ghazipur, Chandauli, Jaunpur, Bhadohi, Mirzapur, Sonbhadra, Kaushambi, Prayagraj, Pratapgarh, Amethi, and Sultanpur.
The session was presided over by UP Congress President and former minister Ajay Rai, with key leaders such as Aradhana Mishra ‘Mona’, Dinesh Singh, Anil Yadav, and Sanjay Dixit, in charge of the party’s War Room, also present.
Year of Organizational Restructuring
Pandey reiterated that the Congress, during its Ahmedabad session, had declared 2025 as the Year of Organizational Restructuring. A structured, phase-wise plan was launched in UP under the joint leadership of Pandey and Ajay Rai, aimed at rebuilding the party’s foundation from the ground up.
As part of this campaign, review meetings were held between June 14 and June 25 in all six zones of the state—Western, Braj, Bundelkhand, Purvanchal, Awadh, and Prayag. These meetings assessed the progress of district and city presidents, as well as zonal coordinators.
“The reviews over the past six days have been highly encouraging. Leaders and workers have aligned their efforts with the vision of Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, Rahul Gandhi, and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra. We are confident that the five-tier organizational framework will be fully established across UP before the year ends,” said Pandey.
Congress Preparing for a Strong Ground Battle
Highlighting the importance of booth-level control, Pandey stated that the booth committees and grassroots structures will be central to the Congress’s election strategy. “This robust structure will be our biggest weapon to oust the BJP from power,” he declared.
Ajay Rai echoed the sentiment, adding that the Congress has adopted a multi-pronged strategy. “We are simultaneously focusing on booth-level structuring, cleaning up and correcting the electoral rolls, and aggressively taking to the streets on public issues ignored by the BJP government,” he said.
Voter List Integrity a Top Priority
Rai emphasized that manipulation of voter rolls will not be tolerated. “We will ensure that no tampering occurs in the electoral lists. Our local units will keep a close watch and take necessary steps to protect democratic integrity,” he assured.
The party’s tone indicates a shift from symbolic protests to structural consolidation, especially after back-to-back electoral setbacks in the state. Leaders at the meeting pledged to reach every block and booth, energize local units, and reconnect with the people.
As the Congress attempts a revival in Uttar Pradesh, these meetings mark a strategic reset aimed at long-term groundwork, with the party looking to transform its organization into a grassroots powerhouse ahead of the 2027 battle.
