Congress Holds Satyagraha in Sultanpur Against Alleged Scrapping of MGNREGA

Sultanpur: The Congress party organised a satyagraha at Rajiv Gandhi Tironiya Park in Sultanpur to protest against the Centre’s alleged move to discontinue the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) scheme. Congress workers staged a peaceful sit-in, registering their opposition to the decision.

Addressing the gathering, Congress leaders said MGNREGA is a lifeline for the poor, labourers, and rural families. They alleged that ending the scheme would directly impact employment opportunities and livelihoods of economically weaker sections. The speakers accused the central government of pursuing anti-people policies and marginalising vulnerable communities.

During the protest, Congress workers raised slogans and held placards demanding the immediate continuation of the MGNREGA scheme. They warned that if the government does not reverse its decision, the party would intensify its agitation in the coming days.

The satyagraha concluded peacefully, with party leaders reiterating their commitment to protect the rights and interests of workers and rural poor.
