CM Yogi’s Vision in Supplementary Budget: Clear Roadmap for a Developed Uttar Pradesh from Healthcare to Growth

Lucknow: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, while participating in the discussion on the supplementary budget in the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly, outlined a clear and decisive roadmap for building a developed Uttar Pradesh, with a strong focus on healthcare expansion, infrastructure development and effective financial planning.

Addressing the House, the Chief Minister said the state has witnessed unprecedented growth in healthcare services, with the number of medical colleges rising to 81. He emphasised that the government has moved away from the earlier practice of token funding and is now implementing schemes with solid financial provisions to ensure timely and effective execution on the ground.

CM Yogi pointed out that in the past, patients from community health centres were routinely referred to distant cities such as Gorakhpur, Lucknow or even AIIMS, causing immense hardship to patients and their families. “This system has now been corrected,” he said, adding that all medical colleges have been clearly instructed to minimise referrals and ensure proper treatment facilities at their own centres.

Highlighting regional development, the Chief Minister noted that even areas like Amethi, which had long remained neglected, now have a medical college established under the present government. He thanked minister Mayankeshwar Sharan Singh for facilitating land allocation, stating that classes have already begun. He also informed the House that work is progressing rapidly towards establishing a medical college in Ballia, with land proposals and funding already approved.

On the broader vision of development, CM Yogi said that after extensive discussions on ‘Viksit Bharat–Viksit Uttar Pradesh’ in the Assembly last year, consultations were held with nearly 300 intellectuals across the state. A dedicated portal was launched to seek public participation, and over 98 lakh suggestions have been received so far. These inputs, he said, are being analysed sector-wise with the support of IIT Kanpur to align Uttar Pradesh’s growth strategy with the Prime Minister’s Vision 2047.

Reiterating the government’s resolve, the Chief Minister said its willpower remains as strong as on the first day. He criticised earlier funding practices where projects received negligible amounts, delaying execution. Under the new policy, 40–50 per cent of funds are released upfront, with subsequent instalments linked to work progress, ensuring momentum in development projects. He added that development speed will further accelerate in 2024–25 and 2025–26.

In a poetic closing, CM Yogi urged opposition members to avoid unnecessary negativity and narrow perspectives, stating that the government is fully committed to realising the collective dream of a developed Uttar Pradesh through sustained effort and inclusive growth.
