CM Yogi to Inaugurate Upgraded Regional Forensic Science Laboratory in Gorakhpur Today

Gorakhpur: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is set to gift Gorakhpur a major boost in forensic science infrastructure with the inauguration of the newly upgraded Regional Forensic Science Laboratory (RFSL) on Tuesday. Built at a cost of ₹72.78 crore, the six-storey state-of-the-art facility—located near Shastri Chowk on District Hospital Road—has been elevated from a Category B to a Category A forensic laboratory.

The inauguration ceremony will begin at 11 a.m., marking a significant advancement in the state government’s push to strengthen scientific policing and accelerate crime investigations.

Advanced Forensic Capabilities Unveiled

With the completion of the upgraded building, Gorakhpur’s RFSL will now offer a wide range of modern forensic services. These include:

  • Data recovery from laptops, mobile phones, and CCTV systems

  • Advanced audio forensics

  • Cutting-edge ballistic and explosive examination facilities

  • Improved infrastructure for scientific evidence analysis

The project has been executed by the Uttar Pradesh Rajkiya Nirman Nigam under the supervision of the Home Department. Officials emphasized that the upgraded facility will substantially reduce the turnaround time for forensic reports, enabling faster investigation and prosecution.

CM Stresses Time-Bound, High-Quality Completion of Projects

During his visit to Gorakhpur on Monday evening, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath reviewed ongoing development projects in the region. Chairing a meeting at the Gorakhnath temple’s meeting hall, he directed officials to streamline project monitoring and ensure accountability at every level.

“Each project must have a designated nodal officer who will submit weekly or fortnightly progress reports,” the Chief Minister said. He emphasized that work should progress swiftly and be completed within the stipulated timelines without compromising quality.

Yogi Adityanath further instructed officials to expedite infrastructure projects slated for completion after next year’s monsoon, urging them to make efforts to finish the works before the monsoon season.

Focus on Law and Order, Traffic Management

The Chief Minister also reviewed the state of law and order in the district, reiterating his government’s commitment to a zero-tolerance policy toward crime and criminals.

With winter setting in, he directed the police department to intensify patrolling, particularly during late evening and night hours. Traffic management, another key concern, was highlighted during the review meeting.

“It must be ensured that traffic flows smoothly and that no congestion occurs on major roads,” he said, instructing authorities to implement stronger measures to prevent traffic jams.

A Major Leap for Scientific Policing in Eastern UP

The inauguration of the upgraded Regional Forensic Science Laboratory stands as a milestone for eastern Uttar Pradesh. With enhanced forensic capabilities and faster investigation cycles, the facility is expected to greatly support police operations, strengthen evidence-based criminal justice processes, and improve overall public safety mechanisms in the region.

As Gorakhpur continues to witness rapid infrastructural development under the Chief Minister’s leadership, today’s inauguration marks yet another significant step towards modernizing governance and boosting administrative efficiency.
