Lucknow – Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has proposed raising the annual income eligibility limit for the Mukhyamantri Samuhik Vivah Yojana (Chief Minister’s Mass Wedding Scheme) from ₹2 lakh to ₹3 lakh to make the scheme more inclusive. The CM emphasized that the scheme has become a significant support system for underprivileged sections of society and that more people should be able to benefit from it.
During a review meeting of the Social Welfare Department held on Thursday, the Chief Minister announced a major financial upgrade in the scheme. Beginning this financial year, eligible newlyweds under the scheme will receive ₹1 lakh instead of the previous ₹51,000.
Under the revised allocation:
-
₹60,000 will be directly deposited into the bride’s bank account,
-
₹25,000 will be given to the couple in the form of gifts,
-
₹15,000 will be allocated for wedding ceremony expenses.
The Chief Minister directed officials to implement this revised structure immediately.
Focus on Elderly Welfare
Reviewing the status of the Old Age Pension scheme, CM Yogi reiterated that no eligible elderly person should be left out of receiving pension benefits. To improve implementation and coverage, he stressed linking the scheme with the Family ID system.
He explained that once an eligible individual linked to a Family ID turns 60, their pension should automatically be initiated without delay. To ensure this, he instructed the concerned officials to put in place the necessary technical infrastructure to expand old age pension coverage via Family ID integration.
With these reforms, the state government aims to enhance the reach and efficiency of key welfare schemes while ensuring that vulnerable populations receive timely and adequate support.
