GORAKHPUR – Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has issued a strict directive, stating that all development projects must be completed with quality and within the stipulated timeline. During a review meeting on Sunday, he declared that accountability will be fixed for officials on every project, and a nodal officer will be assigned to regularly monitor each one.
The CM made it clear that any lapses in quality or contractor negligence would result in strict action. “If any project shows deficiencies or compromises on quality, action will be taken against those responsible,” he warned.
Accelerating Key Projects
During his review of ongoing projects at the Gorakhpur Annex Building, CM Yogi noted that the city’s development had created a strong positive perception across the country. He instructed District Magistrate Anil Dhingra to personally monitor the progress of all projects. The CM specifically called for speeding up work on major infrastructure projects, including the PAC Women’s Battalion, Khajanchi Bazaar, Padari Bazaar, Bargadwa, Gorakhnath, Paidlegunj-Nausarh flyovers, and the Bhopa Bazaar overbridge.

Focus on Public Health and Safety
The Chief Minister also emphasized the need for public awareness campaigns to prevent dengue and other seasonal diseases. He highlighted the successful control of encephalitis in Purvanchal but stressed the need for continuous vigilance.
He also called for an end to the “medical mafia,” which he said had occasionally been reported in the form of ambulance mafias or middlemen charging for hospital admissions. He demanded strong action to prevent such activities from taking root.

Traffic Management and Public Discipline
To ensure Gorakhpur’s competitiveness with major smart cities, CM Yogi directed the traffic police and municipal corporation to collaborate on a system to prevent traffic jams. He also called for the organized rehabilitation of street vendors to ensure they don’t block roads with their stalls.
Regarding education, the CM said that since the government provides funds directly to parents for school uniforms and other essentials, checks should be conducted to ensure children in state schools wear their uniforms. He stated that this would foster a disciplined and positive environment.
Action Taken Against Absent Officials
In a swift move following the review meeting, Commissioner Anil Dhingra took strict action against five officials who were absent from the meeting with the Chief Minister. The commissioner issued an order to withhold one day’s salary for the absent officials and has sent a letter to the government recommending departmental action against them.
The officials facing action include the Project Managers of C&DS Units 14, 19, and 42; the Executive Engineer of Uttar Pradesh Rajya Nirman Sahkari Sangh (UPRNSS)-I; and the Principal of BRD Medical College. The commissioner’s order was issued shortly after the CM’s departure, demonstrating the seriousness of the directive.
