Lucknow | The banks of the Gomti in Lucknow turned into a grand confluence of faith and devotion as thousands gathered to offer prayers during the auspicious occasion of Chhath Puja. The atmosphere at the Laxman Mela ground brimmed with devotion as women devotees, dressed in traditional attire, performed rituals and offered Arghya to the setting Sun, praying for the well-being of their families.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath attended the celebrations, offering prayers to Surya Dev (Sun God) and extending warm greetings to the people of Uttar Pradesh. The Chief Minister was joined by Deputy CM Brajesh Pathak, Mayor Sushma Kharkwal, and Akhil Bhartiya Bhojpuri Samaj’s National President Prabhunath Rai, who together performed the ritual offering to the Sun and wished for the prosperity and harmony of the state.
On this sacred occasion, CM Yogi conveyed his heartfelt greetings to devotees across the state, appreciating their deep faith and disciplined participation. Among the dignitaries present were former Mauritius Secretary Suresh Ram Varun, BJP Lucknow Mahanagar President Anand Dwivedi, Manoj Singh, Vaid Prakash Rai, Director of Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia Institute Dr. C.M. Singh, Atma Prakash, Ambrish Rai, Police Commissioner Lucknow, the District Magistrate, and other senior officials.
Meanwhile, Urban Development and Energy Minister A.K. Sharma visited several Chhath Ghats across Lucknow and nearby districts to review preparations and interact with devotees. He inspected arrangements at Sanjhiya Ghat and other key locations, directing officials to remain vigilant and ensure a smooth celebration.

Minister Sharma praised the joint efforts of all civic bodies, stating, “Cleanliness and service are the true forms of devotion—this is the soul of Chhath Puja.” He highlighted that under the combined efforts of the Urban Development and Energy Department, arrangements related to cleanliness, lighting, and public facilities across Uttar Pradesh were exemplary this year.
“All municipal corporations, councils, and nagar panchayats worked in unison to ensure timely completion of cleaning, fogging, drinking water supply, and electricity arrangements,” Sharma added.
Expressing gratitude to the people, he remarked, “This success belongs not just to the department but to every citizen of the state who celebrated with discipline and devotion. Uttar Pradesh today stands as a symbol of cleanliness, development, and faith.”
With vibrant prayers, glowing lamps, and a strong message of civic responsibility, Uttar Pradesh marked Chhath Mahaparv as both a spiritual celebration and a testament to the state’s evolving model of clean and inclusive urban governance.
