Lucknow: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath distributed LPG gas refill subsidies under the Prime Minister Ujjwala Yojana at Lok Bhavan, describing the initiative as a significant gift for poor families ahead of Diwali. Addressing the gathering, CM Yogi emphasized that festivals should be celebrated with peace, harmony, and joy, urging citizens to support local artisans and help the underprivileged.
The program benefits 1.86 crore families in Uttar Pradesh, ensuring free gas cylinders twice a year during Holi and Diwali. “Our aim is to bring happiness to all underprivileged households during festive seasons,” the Chief Minister said, highlighting the government’s commitment to inclusive development.
CM Yogi also issued a stern warning against those who endanger girls’ safety. “If anyone tampers with the security of daughters, the law will take strict action, and jail awaits offenders,” he said, stressing that the government would respond firmly to any disruption during festivals.
Reflecting on past governance, the CM remarked that before 2017, welfare schemes rarely reached the needy. Today, all schemes are delivered without discrimination, benefiting marginalized communities across the state. He urged citizens to adopt ‘Swadeshi’ products during Diwali to support local artisans, handicrafts, and small businesses, linking prosperity to domestic production.

CM Yogi further highlighted the social aspect of festivals, calling upon families to assist the poor and underprivileged to make celebrations meaningful. Subsidies were handed over to women beneficiaries including Sony, Rita, Nisha Chauhan, Sabina, Saeeda Bano, Sarika Yadav, Parvati, Beena Kumari, and Reshma Khan.
The event was attended by Finance and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Suresh Kumar Khanna, former Deputy CM and Rajya Sabha MP Dr. Dinesh Sharma, MP Sanjay Seth, MLA Dr. Neeraj Bora, Lucknow Mayor Sushma Kharkwal, and other dignitaries.
