Gorakhpur: On the occasion of Vijayadashami, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister and Gorakshpeethadhishwar Yogi Adityanath performed a special puja at the Gorakhnath Temple, offering prayers to Mahayogi Guru Gorakhnath for the peace, prosperity, and well-being of the people of the state.
Dressed in the traditional attire of the Peeth, the CM carried out rituals in line with the centuries-old tradition of the Gorakshpeeth. The ceremony began at the Shaktipeeth within the temple premises, where rituals for Goddess Adishakti had been ongoing since the start of the Sharadiya Navratri. Accompanied by saints, Acharyas, and students from the Sanskrit Vidyapeeth, and amid resonating Vedic chants, Yogi Adityanath offered worship at the sanctum sanctorum of Shri Nath Ji and conducted the special rituals for Mahayogi Gorakhnath.
During the ceremony, he also performed puja for all other deities enshrined within the temple, offered prayers at the samadhi sites of his Guru, the late Mahant Avaidyanath, and other saints, and participated in the traditional aarti. The temple resounded with devotional fervor as traditional Nath Panth instruments like the nagfani, shankh, dhol, ghant, and damaru echoed during the rituals.

As part of the Vijayadashami traditions, CM Yogi also performed gopuja (worship of the cow) at the temple’s cowshed. He applied tilak to the cow, offered jaggery, puri, and laddoo, and lovingly served and caressed the cattle, reflecting his deep emotional bond with gomata. He also performed rituals at the sacred Bheem Sarovar and fed the fish residing there.
The annual Vijayadashami puja at the Gorakhnath Temple is considered a symbol of the Sanatan tradition and devotion of the Gorakshpeeth. On this occasion, Yogi Adityanath once again prayed for the happiness, peace, and prosperity of the people of Uttar Pradesh.
