CM Yogi Adityanath Orders Enhanced Arrangements for Mouni Amavasya at Sangam

Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed authorities to strengthen the preparations for the upcoming Mouni Amavasya, set to take place on January 29. With an estimated 8 to 10 crore pilgrims expected to visit Prayagraj for the sacred Sangam Snan (bathing), the CM emphasized the need for improved arrangements to accommodate the huge influx of devotees.

Massive Pilgrim Turnout Expected

During a meeting with senior officials of the state administration, Chief Minister Adityanath shared that over 6 crore people had visited the Triveni Sangam during the recent Poush Purnima and Makar Sankranti events. He highlighted that Mouni Amavasya is expected to draw a similar, if not larger, crowd, urging authorities to make necessary preparations to manage the crowd effectively.

Focus on Transportation Systems

The Chief Minister stressed the importance of a robust transport system, directing the Railway Ministry to ensure timely operation of special Mahakumbh trains. He also recommended increasing the frequency of trains to meet the rising demand. In addition, he emphasized the need to improve mobile networks to ensure seamless connectivity for the pilgrims. The continued operation of shuttle buses and electric buses was also discussed to provide smooth transportation for the masses.

Emphasis on Facilities and Basic Amenities

CM Yogi Adityanath further underscored the importance of cleanliness, particularly in the maintenance of toilets, and the installation of barricades at the ghats. Additionally, he emphasized ensuring a continuous supply of water and electricity throughout the event. The meeting was attended by key officials, including the Chief Secretary, Police Chief, and the Secretary of Urban Development.

Authorities are now working on finalizing the arrangements to ensure that the spiritual event goes smoothly for the millions of pilgrims expected to converge on Prayagraj in just under two weeks.
