Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath today inaugurated the SBI Foundation ICU Project at the Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGI) in Lucknow. The Saloni Heart Centre is dedicated to the treatment of congenital heart diseases in children. On this occasion, the SBI Foundation contributed approximately ₹10 crore to the Saloni Heart Centre to equip it with modern medical devices and essential resources.

The Chief Minister said that for a long time, there was a lack of high-level treatment facilities for children’s heart diseases in the state. In this context, the Saloni Heart Centre is a major achievement for Uttar Pradesh. Since its inauguration 18 months ago, over 300 successful heart surgeries have been performed on children. The first phase of the heart centre is fully operational, while the work for the second phase is progressing rapidly.

The Chief Minister praised the efforts of the Saloni Heart Foundation’s founders, the couple Mrs. Milli Seth and Mr. Himanshu Seth. He also commended the support from the SBI Foundation. He stated that the Saloni Heart Centre is instilling new hope in the lives of thousands of families in the state. He added that this initiative is a direct and successful outcome of the 2023 Global Investors Summit and is proving to be extremely useful in protecting children’s lives.

Chief Minister Adityanath also noted that Uttar Pradesh has previously achieved remarkable success in the eradication of a serious disease like Encephalitis and is now making solid progress in the treatment of pediatric heart diseases. He expressed confidence that the support from the SBI Foundation will further enhance the capabilities of the Saloni Heart Centre and serve as a milestone in protecting the lives of children in the times to come.

On this occasion, Dr. R.K. Dhiman, Director of SGPGI, provided the Chief Minister with information about the centre’s activities and achievements since its establishment.

Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak, Minister of State for Medical Education Mayankeshwar Sharan Singh, and senior officials from the Saloni Foundation, SBI, SGPGI, and the Health Department were present at the event.
