Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath extended his best wishes to the UP Warriorz ahead of their first-ever home leg in the 2025 Women’s Premier League (WPL). The Chief Minister met with team captain Deepti Sharma and Capri Sports director Jinisha Sharma, who formally invited him to attend the team’s upcoming matches in Lucknow.
Expressing his support for the team, CM Adityanath encouraged the players to perform at their best and make Uttar Pradesh proud. “We are delighted to receive Yogi Adityanath Ji’s best wishes. His words have inspired our squad to give their all in our home matches. Hosting him at our games would be an incredible honor, and we are confident that our team will make the state proud,” said Jinisha Sharma, Director of Capri Sports, the franchise owner of UP Warriorz.
Captain Deepti Sharma also expressed her gratitude, calling the meeting with the Chief Minister an honor. “We truly appreciate his encouragement and support. It means a lot to us as we step onto our home ground for the first time in WPL history,” she said.
The UP Warriorz, a team owned by Capri Sports, are gearing up for their home leg matches at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow. The team is determined to make a strong impact in the league under the guidance of head coach Jon Lewis.
As part of their home leg, the UP Warriorz will face the Gujarat Giants on March 3, followed by a clash against the Mumbai Indians on March 6. They will then take on the reigning champions, Royal Challengers Bengaluru, on March 8.
