Lucknow: The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) organized the 7th edition of the Uttar Pradesh Health Summit in Lucknow, bringing together policymakers, healthcare experts, and innovators to deliberate on the future of healthcare services in the state.
Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak, the chief guest, highlighted that Uttar Pradesh has witnessed historic progress in the health sector over the past seven years — from the establishment of 17 new medical colleges to strengthening rural health centers and expanding super-specialty services. He reaffirmed the state’s commitment to universal healthcare, with initiatives such as free primary care in rural areas, dedicated maternal and child health centers, digital health solutions like the e-Sanjeevani app, and a strengthened healthcare workforce.
Ritu Maheshwari, Secretary, Health and Family Welfare Department, Government of UP, underlined the importance of improving service delivery at primary and community health centers. She said digital interventions under the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM) and FACTA are transforming healthcare delivery. Over the past three years, UP has created 14 crore ABHA IDs, registered 68,000+ health institutions, trained 97,000+ professionals, and generated 9.5 crore digital health records. She stressed the need for continuous skill development, infrastructure upgrades, and adoption of innovative technologies to ensure equitable healthcare access.

Dr. Upasana Arora, Chairperson, CII UP & UP Health Summit 2025, and MD, Yashoda Super Speciality Hospitals, noted that the state is undergoing a major transformation in healthcare, driven by government initiatives like Ayushman Bharat and digital health, complemented by private sector innovation and investment. She emphasized that health is not just a social need but also a foundation for economic growth and employment.
Dr. Dharmendra Nagar, Chairman, CII Northern Region Healthcare Committee & MD, Paras Healthcare, stressed that new medical colleges, digital health initiatives, and Ayushman Bharat are driving healthcare advancement in UP. He called for transparent and outcome-driven public-private models, long-term policy frameworks, and robust healthcare networks.

Saurabh Garg, Chairman, POCT Group, said strengthening primary health centers (PHCs) and community health centers (CHCs) is critical to bridging gaps in healthcare demand and supply.
Mukesh Kumar Sharma, Executive Director, PSI India, highlighted that health and empowerment go hand in hand, acknowledging government efforts like Ayushman Bharat, e-Sanjeevani, U-Win, PMSMA, and Niramaya. He stressed that healthcare is not only the government’s responsibility but a shared duty of every citizen, while praising the growing role of NGOs and the private sector.
The summit saw the participation of over 180 industry representatives, underscoring the importance of collaboration between government, industry, and civil society in shaping a robust and inclusive healthcare ecosystem.
