Lucknow: Under the leadership and guidance of Deputy Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Keshav Prasad Maurya, the Rural Development Department is working rapidly towards women empowerment and self-reliance. CIB boards are being made in the state under MNREGA by the sisters of self-help groups.
The CIB boards, which are installed at all the work sites before the start of MNREGA work, are made by the women of the self-help groups. This work increases the income of women associated with self-help groups, due to which women are now becoming self-reliant and their self-esteem is also increasing.
Every year, CIB boards are being made on a large scale by the women of self-help groups. Rural women are actively participating in improving the economic condition of their families. Citizen Information Boards are being constructed on the assets being constructed under the MNREGA scheme through the self-help groups formed under the National Rural Livelihood Mission, thereby enhancing the livelihood of the women of the self-help groups.
According to the information received from the Rural Development Department, in 2023-24, more than 5 lakh citizen information boards were constructed by more than 5000 women of more than 1100 self-help groups of Rural Livelihood Mission in the state.
In the current financial year 2024-25, so far about 3 lakh citizen information boards have been constructed by 5600 women of 1200 self-help groups of Rural Livelihood Mission, thereby increasing the income of rural women and also developing the spirit of entrepreneurship. There are instructions to supply the CIB boards used in the creation of assets under the MNREGA scheme through women self-help groups.
The name of the Gram Panchayat, development block, name of the district, work ID, estimated cost of the work, date of starting of work, date of completion of work, man days, wages etc. are mentioned in the Citizen Information Board.
Rural Development Commissioner GS Priyadarshi said that the order for the construction of CIB board to be installed at the work site is given to the concerned group in time, so that CIB board can be installed at all work sites as per the prescribed standards before the work starts.
