Chetna Sanstha, Altius Empower Young Women with Livelihood Support Programme

Lucknow/Gurugram: In a significant step towards women empowerment, Chetna Sanstha, in collaboration with Altius Group, organised a livelihood support programme aimed at enabling young women from underprivileged communities to become financially independent.

Held under the theme “Empowered Women, Prosperous Families,” the initiative focused on addressing the challenges of limited livelihood opportunities and lack of skill development, particularly in rapidly urbanising regions like Gurugram.

As part of the programme, 64 young women were provided with hand-operated sewing machines along with complete tailoring kits, including fabric, threads, and essential materials. The support is expected to help beneficiaries start home-based work, develop small businesses, and create sustainable sources of income.

Organisers emphasised that the initiative goes beyond resource distribution, aiming to build long-term self-reliance. Selected participants will also receive skill-based training to enhance their technical abilities, improve quality of work, and connect with market opportunities for regular earnings.

Speaking on the occasion, Director of Chetna Sanstha, Sanjay Gupta, highlighted that livelihood-based empowerment plays a crucial role in driving social change. He noted that such efforts not only strengthen women economically but also boost their confidence, identity, and dignity.

Reaffirming its commitment to inclusive growth through CSR initiatives, the Altius Group stated that such programmes are instrumental in creating sustainable and positive grassroots impact.

One of the beneficiaries, Musheda, shared her emotional experience, saying the sewing machine would help her support her family and pursue her aspirations. “My mother is differently-abled, and my father is the sole earner. This machine gives me the opportunity to learn, contribute to my household, and fulfil my dreams,” she said.

Representatives from Altius, including Rubika, encouraged the women to utilise the opportunity to become self-reliant and move forward with confidence. Participants also shared their challenges and aspirations, reflecting resilience and determination.

The programme not only provided tools for livelihood but also served as a platform to recognise the courage and ambitions of young women. It reinforced the commitment of both organisations to building empowered women and stronger families through sustained efforts.
